About the Event
Join us for some festive fun and take a dash around Derby’s own real ice rink. Proving a popular choice last Christmas, the glittering ice rink will be back in Derby’s Market Place.
Whether you’re the next Torvill and Dean or you’re just trying to stay on your feet, there is no better way to get in the Christmas mood than strutting (skating) your stuff around the ice. Followed by a steamy hot chocolate or warming mulled wine. It’s the perfect Christmas time treat. The covered Ice Rink has a viewing platform and windows. Spectators can join in the fun by relaxing amongst the twinkling lights and listening to the festive playlist.
Adults and children of all abilities can enjoy whizzing around on the ice in our hourly sessions, with prices including skate hire. New for this year sit-on skate aids will be free to borrow for those feeling a bit wobbly on the ice. Available on a first come first served basis.
After your skate why not visit our on site food vendors. From delicious loaded fries and German sausages to indulgent crepes and waffles. Enjoy your food in the warmth of the tipi with a glass of mulled wine.
Smooth Radio Night
Head down to the ice rink for the Smooth Radio Night in aid of Make Some Noise on Saturday 9th December and enjoy a special party night feel with a Smooth Radio playlist and giveaways, all hosted by Smooth Radio DJ Gareth Evans.
Age Guidance
An adult must always accompany and supervise under 12s skaters on the ice. 12- to 14-year-olds must have a parent or guardian observing from the sides.

What's Good To Do (whatsgoodtodo.com)
"The younder ones enjoyed whizzing round the ice with the help of a 2ft penguin skate aid, some slightly taller polar bears and some excellent yellow aids that enabled the smallest ones to be seated... whilst the adults demonstrated a variety of skill level!"
