Christmas Lights Switch On & Festive Derby opening

Come into the city as we celebrate the start of Festive Derby
Join us at Corporation Street, outside the Council House as we switch on Derby’s Christmas Lights and get Festive Derby open! Don't miss out on the opening of The Cathedral Quarter Ice Rink and Nordic Bar on Derby Market Place.
Before the switch on takes place you can be one of the first to take to the Cathedral Quarter ice rink, with skating available from 11am. Enjoy a programme of free live entertainment in the Cathedral Quarter, followed by a stage show full of local and community acts and presented by Smooth Radio.
Starting at 4pm Derby Lantern Parade will start from St Peter’s Cross, which will see lantern makers from across the city will be joined by more than 350 pupils at local primary schools, Derby College and members from various community groups who will proudly parade with the sustainable lanterns that they have made.
Programme:
3:30pm - Parade acts arrive at St. Peters Church.
4pm - Stage show starts on Corporation Street, outside the Council House & Parade starts from St. Peters Church.
4.05pm - Invisible Friends
4.25pm - Public Eye
4.30pm - Parade arrives at Sir Peter Hilton Gardens.
4.45pm - Speech from Mayor of Derby & Leader of Derby City Council, Councillor Nadine Peatfield
4.50pm - Perfomance from Surtal Arts (Dhol drummers with Chinese Dragon, Mastani wings dance, Ukranian dance, Dholna bollywood dance, Sadi Gali bhangra dance).
5.15pm - Cassette Roulette
5.45pm - Christmas Light Switch On
Smooth Radio to be presenting the stage show throughout the day with East Midlands breakfast show presenters Gareth Evans and Emma Caldwell.
